Disturbing threats made against Mayor O'Connor over police radio

Law enforcement is investigating a threat against Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O'Connor that came over police radio Monday.

What sounded like Nazi songs were heard on police frequencies Monday afternoon, followed by a death threat against the mayor.

Allegheny County Emergency Service says they are working with County Police and federal law enforcement in the investigation.

Officials say the system “was not hacked. The unknown user was able to access the analog radio system and transmit the messages. This situation has happened in the past, and we take these matters seriously.”

Mayor O’Connor’s office has not made a public statement on the threat.

The FCC says jamming emergency scanners is a crime.

“The use or marketing of a jammer in the United States may subject you to substantial monetary penalties, seizure of the unlawful equipment, and criminal sanctions including imprisonment,” read a statement on the FCC’s website.
