Dormont says its police did not assist in any way in the apprehension by ICE and INTERPOL of a suspect on Espy Avenue earlier this week.
The suspect was taken into custody and the borough says their police were notified when the agencies arrived and again when they left.
The borough shared the news of the incident and its policy on social media Wednesday, stating that Dormont's policy is for police to make "personal and professional commitments" to equal enforcement of the law and "recognizing the dignity of all people regardless of their national origin or immigration status."
The social media post concludes by telling those concerned about immigrants in Dormont to contact Casa San Jose, a Pittsburgh-based resource to Latinos in the area.
An undocumented immigrant was charged last September in a fatal hit and run crash involving a motorcyclist.
