A Family Dollar store in Pittsburgh has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department.
An inspection of the Family Dollar on Hays Avenue in Mt. Oliver shows over 20 bags of cereal and over 10 bags of potato chips for sale were found with chew holes from rodents as well as droppings on or around the bags.
Five bags of animal crackers were found in a similar condition.
Inspectors say that’s a repeat violation.
Rodent droppings were also found under candy and chip shelves, near the rear storage room, on a shelf with cough drops and two live mice were found on glue board under shelves in the chip aisle.
Before reopening, the Health Department says the entire store “must be reset, product removed from shelves, cleaned and disinfected.
The entire store must also be treated for pests.
The inspection was conducted on October 31 and as of Tuesday, November 4 the closure remains active.
