Former Catholic Church in Duquesne finds new life as retro arcade

A former Catholic Church in Duquesne is getting new life as a brand-new retro arcade.

The Church Arcade will celebrate a two-day grand opening this Saturday and Sunday, January 31 and February 1 on South 1st Street.

The locally-owned retro arcade promises “Mass-of Games” with over 100 classic video games and over 30 pinball machines.

Unlike the old days, you don’t need a bunch of quarters to play. One price gets your in for unlimited play all day long.

All of the Games at The Church Arcade are privately owned by members of the Pittsburgh Arcade Collective, which owns the new entertainment venue.

“We’ve preserved most of the original architecture of this beautiful and historic building… the stained-glass windows, vaulted ceilings, and alters,” said Jon Snow, Owner and General Manager of The Church Arcade. “But we’ve re-imaged it with arcade and pinball machines, and lighting that creates a completely unique arcade atmosphere.”

To celebrate the opening, there will be competitive pinball and arcade tournaments, food trucks and a microbrewery on site along with a DJ playing music from the 1980s and 1990s.

The Church Arcade aims to become a hub for local events, tournaments, and a unique social experience for players of all ages. The grand opening takes place:

• Saturday, January 31 (11:00am – 11:00pm)
• Sunday, February 1 (10:00am – 10:00pm)
