A small community in Washington County is mourning the loss of a high school student fatally injured in a dirt bike crash last Friday.
16-year-old Ayden Stahl was riding an electric dirt bike in California Borough when it struck a fallen tree on the road.
The California Area High School student died at a hospital Saturday morning.
Students returned to classes on Monday and counselors will remain available as they process the loss of their classmate.
The community has also come together to help the Stahl family.
The Roscoe Volunteer Fire Company has organized two events to help the family.
A fill-the-boot driver will happen on Sunday, March 22 from noon to 3 p.m. on Route 88 in front of the Roscoe VFC at the top of Elco Hill. Cash will be collected for the family.
On Saturday, March 28, a bingo fundraiser will take place at 5 p.m. with doors opening at 2 p.m. Admission is $25 a person.
The VFC is also looking for donations for a Chinese auction during the bingo event.
All proceeds will benefit Ayden’s family.
A Meal Train has also been started, you can find more information about that here.
