Iranian living in Pittsburgh says war is between governments, not people

As we enter Day 5 of the War in Iran, many U.S. citizens who have immigrated from Iran over the years, are feeling the impact of the war.

One one of them is Majid Parham, who is a structural engineer and living in Pittsburgh.

On the Big K Morning Show, he emphasizes that this war is between the governments, not the nations as a people.

“If you go in Tehran or any other city in Iran and walk in the street and say ‘I am American’, they really treat you very well, even like you more than any other nation because, Iranian people really like American(s),” said Parham.

And, while Parham says he was shocked to learn that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed over the weekend, he says he does support a transition of power to a new kind of government.

“Not just me, all Iranian, they don’t like the policies of this government that why we tried a lot in different ways, in past years, to change that but unfortunately they couldn’t do that much about it,” said Parham.

He says since this war has started he hasn't been able talk with family members and friends in Iran, and says he is very concerned for their safety.

Parham adds he doesn't like the policies of his government in Iran and is hoping that a transition in power will be bring meaningful change to his native country.
