Lawrenceville woman charged after leaving dogs out in extreme heat

A Pittsburgh woman is facing cruelty to animal charges after leaving her dogs outside for two days in the extreme temperatures, resulting in them both canines suffering heat stroke.

According to court records, 38-year-old Christine Crowther was charged with aggravated animal cruelty and animal neglect after police were called to 44th Street in Lawrenceville on Tuesday afternoon.

Animal control officers said they found two dogs dying from heat exhaustion.

Animal advocates have been trying to warn pet owners about the dangers of leaving their pets outside.

Earlier this month, a 6-month-old puppy was found with heatstroke after it was left in a car in Beaver County.

The Beaver County Humane Society says the Doberman puppy is recovering.
