President Donald Trump and US Senator Dave McCormick will use Tuesday’s energy and innovation summit at Carnegie Mellon University to announce a massive investment in Pennsylvania.
Senator McCormick told KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin it's a $75 billion investment and it's being made because the state is uniquely positioned:
“We got abundant energy, we got this incredible, skilled workforce, we got unbelievable technology, particularly at Carnegie Mellon and then we’ve got proximity. We’re within 500 miles of more than half of America’s population,” said McCormick.
McCormick also said thousands of new jobs will be created for building and operating new data centers, new power generation and grid infrastructure along with AI training programs and apprenticeships.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the investment in a post on social media Monday morning.
McCormick says the investment represents the "largest investment commitment in these industries in terms of dollars for the state and jobs created in the history of the Commonwealth" including new data centers, new power generation and grid infrastructure to meet surging data center demand, along with AI training programs and apprenticeships for businesses.
President Trump and Senator McCormick will both be in attendance and KDKA Radio will be broadcasting live from CMU on Tuesday for the inaugural Energy and Innovation Summit.
