Portions of Mt. Troy Road to close to repair landslide damages

Port Authority bus stops to be discontinued

Travelers of Mt. Troy Road in Reserve Township will need to find an alternate route at the end of December as damages from a landslide 18 months ago in Reserve Township will finally be repaired.

Allegheny County Department of Public Works announced plans to close the road for construction to remedy the landslide damage.

The closure will be in place between Fornof Lane and Lonsdale Street beginning at 9am on Monday, December 28. In addition, the northbound lane in the 3200 block of Mt. Troy Road will also close.

The closure will cause the Port Authority's 4-Troy Hill bus route to be detoured. As a result, 37 stops will be discontinued. Riders with questions can contact the Port Authority by phone at 412-442-2000, on Twitter @PghTransitCare, or on their website.

A portion of Mt. Troy Road has been closed since landslide happened in June of 2019. A recent inspection revealed that the stability of the road had worsened.

Public Works said support walls, a rock embankment and a guide rail will be constructed.

The road restrictions for nearly $700,000 project are expected to in place through March of 2021.
