According to a report, the new Pittsburgh International Airport terminal is expected to be open before Thanksgiving.
Allegheny County Airport Authority Christina Cassotis tells The Pittsburgh Business Times reports the terminal will open before Thanksgiving.
Officials will have a better idea of when the Airport will open after this weekend’s second dress rehearsal.
It will be the second biggest test yet, a full-scale dress rehearsal before opening to real travelers.
On Saturday, 2,500 volunteers will act as passengers, checking in at ticket counters, dropping off luggage, going through security, and even picking up their bags in the new baggage claim area.
It’s a stress test designed to simulate the airport’s busiest moment, a Monday morning rush after a Steelers game, to make sure every system works as planned.
The new terminal includes a larger checkpoint area, expanding from seven to twelve security lines, all in one central location with new technology meant to move travelers through faster.
The three-hour test starts at 9 a.m.
