A hungry dog is responsible for a house fire in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire says crews responded just after 7:15 a.m. for a one-alarm structure fire in the 100 block of Conover Road in Point Breeze.
Firefighters rescued the family pet from the home and it was treated for smoke inhalation at an emergency veterinary clinic.
No one else was inside the home at the time of the fire.
Investigators found the fire started "when the dog attempted to reach food placed on top of the stove and accidentally turned on a burner."
The home's kitchen was significantly damaged and other areas of the home were affected the heat and smoke damage.
The resident of the home found somewhere else to stay on Tuesday.
