Two state senators are pushing for a new tax on online adult content providers.
Democrat Marty Flynn and Republican Joe Picozzi are proposing a ten percent tax on subscriptions to online adult content platforms.
It would also apply to one-time purchases made on such a site.
Flynn and Picozzi argue the new tax, on top of Pennsylvania's six percent sales tax, would guarantee that sites selling adult content are paying their fair share to the Commonwealth.
Their memorandum says it mirrors what they're doing in other jurisdictions regarding modernizing the tax code so online businesses are treated appropriately.
