Local police departments working with immigration enforcement may have to do so without state support.
That's because under a bill being considered in the State House, local police departments would be prohibited from using state-appropriated funds to enforce immigration laws.
Chester County Democrat Chris Pielli says his proposed legislation would also enshrine current State Police policy of limited ICE cooperation.
Pielli says communities should be able to trust that law enforcement is there to help, regardless of someone's immigration status.
