Random act of kindness witnessed on South Side

One Pittsburgher is sharing a random act of kindness he witnessed on the South Side Thursday.

George Apessos was parking his car at 26th and Carson Streets when he heard a loud whistle blowing over and over again.

Apessos says he was looking for police or “some other commotion” when he saw a “young man in a hoodie jump out of his car and run across the street.”

It was then that Apessos saw that a blind man needed help crossing the street at the intersection.

“The man in the hoodie ran through the busy intersection to escort the panicked man to safely cross the street,” Apessos wrote on Facebook.

“I was filled with emotion and on the brink of tears when this happened,” Apessos tells KDKA Radio.

He adds he was honored to see the small, unnoticed random act of kindness.

Apessos says he was running late for an appointment and didn't have time to thank the man and hopes he gets the appreciation he deserves.
