More charges expected against two women connected to death of a Fayette County 9-year-old.
Fayette County District Attorney Michael Aubele tells KDKA Radio a sibling of the deceased 9-year-old girl had signs of abuse and neglect.
“One of the children, who is 6-years-old was flagged as having being severely malnourished, signed of child abuse,” said Aubele. “He remains in the hospital today. He is stable and he’s receiving treatment. But, we will be filing additional charges additional charges against both caretakers for that child.”
All four children have been placed in foster care after they were removed from the home at the request of Children and Youth Services.
Aubele says the adopted children were in kinship care, or when children are in the care of someone they are related to, and not active with CYS.
“This is not like these were children that were active with CYS or that there were routine checks being done,” said Aubele. “Once you get a final order and the case is closed, then you’re done, you’re outside of CYS. You have permanent legal custody, full medical rights, full educational rights, all of that.”
Kourtney Eutsey and her wife, Sarah Shipley are facing homicide and other charges in the girl's death
Aubele says Shipley was hospitalized last week for an overdose.
“Once she is cleared, she will be taken to her arraignment,” said Aubele.
