House Dems send spending bill to Senate in attempt to end budget impasse

House Democrats sent a new spending proposal to the Senate on Wednesday, the 100th day of Pennsylvania's budget impasse.

It’s a $50.3 billion spending plan that faces a grim future in the Senate.

Democratic Appropriations Committee Chair Jordan Harris criticized Senate Republicans saying they're prioritizing politics over serving the public.

However, Senate Republican Leader Kim Ward told KDKA Radio's Rob Pratte they need more time to review the Democratic proposal.

“We sent a bill to the House two months ago,” said Ward. “Two months later, it will be two months October 12, they sent a bill back. We had no idea what was in it. You know, that’s not how you do this, you kind of have to talk to each other.”

Pennsylvania is the only state in the country without some form of spending plan in place for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
