Steelers President Art Rooney II says his organization is still willing to wait on a decision from free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“A little while longer,” Rooney said (Via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler) while at the NFL’s owners meeting. “I’ll say the same thing.”
Rooney did say essentially the same thing back in the beginning of April when asked about the Steelers possibly signing the four-time MVP.
Rodgers is also still non-committal on playing in 2025.
While on his good friend, Joe Rogan’s Podcast Wednesday, Rodgers shed a little bit of light on why he hasn’t been focused on football.
The 41-year-old QB said he has some people close to him dealing with cancer.
Football didn’t come up during the three-hour chat on Rogan’s podcast.
Andrew Fillipponi said on Thursday that Rodgers doesn’t sound like a guy who is going to play football in the near future.
Rodgers and Rogan covered a lot of topics during the podcast, including a list of unproven conspiracy theories.
Fillipponi questions if Rodgers does sign with the Steelers, is Rooney ready for the inevitable controversies that the quarterback will inevitably create?
“He better be good, he better be really good actually,” said Poni. Because if he’s not, it’s going to be another circus in the Steelers locker room with reporters asking other players about Rodgers.
Winning fixes everything, and if Rodgers and the Steelers are not winning, the focus is going to be on frog embryos, COVID vaccinations, Epstein Island and not football.
