'Big boy' QB has Mueller putting Steelers in upper-tier of AFC

After years of mediocrity, the Steelers appear poised to be one of the top contending teams in the AFC.

The Steelers go into the Bye this weekend 6-2 with an offense that is looking like it’s on the upswing.

Quarterback Russell Wilson is making the Steelers receiver corps look good and is “feeding” WR1 George Pickens the ball, keeping him happy.

Najee Harris is having his best stretch ever in the NFL, with three straight 100-yard-plus games.

PM Team co-host Chris Mueller says this is the most optimistic he’s felt about a Steelers offense since 2018.

That said, Mueller thinks the Steelers need to be now be considered a “big boy” team in the AFC.

Why?

While the Steelers saw some drives stall out in the red zone, the offense did move the ball down the field.

“There are many things they could clean up . . . but they looked last night like a team (that) moved the ball very easily for the majority of that (Monday night) football game,” said Mueller.

Mueller says Russell Wilson is playing “big boy quarterback” again and it’s been years since they have had a QB that you can get excited for.

The Steelers' 2nd-half schedule is a daunting one, but instead of hoping the offense gets it goes and can score more than 20 points, it's now expected they'll put up at least that many and more.

If the Steelers make the playoffs, for the first time in a long time, the expectation should be to win, not hoping your knock off a team like Buffalo and survive to the next round.
