Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin spoke to the media for the first time since the end of last season on Monday and, of course, was asked about Aaron Rodgers.
Steelers insider Mark Kaboly of 93.7 The Fan and The Pat McAfee Show tells Dorin Dickerson he thinks Rodgers will end up signing with the Steelers but that the team seems comfortable waiting.
“He played it pretty close to the vest,” said Kaboly, who is in Florida for the NFL League Meetings.
Tomlin said that he would like to have everything wrapped by before training camp in July, but Kaboly isn’t 100 percent sure that he was talking about Rodgers there.
“I think that was something that was interpreted a different couple of ways, I think he might have just been talking about team building at that point,” said Kaboly. “I don’t know if he was talking about Rogers specifically at that point.”
Tomlin also confirmed that he and Rodgers have spoken since the four-time MVP visited Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago.
Kaboly says he gets the feeling that Tomlin isn’t worried about when it happens.
“It could be now, it could be after the draft, it could be some time in May,” said Kaboly.
Kaboly was asked if he thinks the hold up with Rodgers is because he doesn’t want to report to minicamp or OTAs.
He says he thinks the Steelers would be okay if Rodgers said he didn’t want to come to OTAs or minicamp.
