Man involved in altercation with DK Metcalf denies using racist language

After being accused of using derogatory language toward Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf, a Lions fan is speaking out through his lawyer.

In a statement made through Head Murphy Law in Farmington Hills, Michigan, the fan in question Ryan Kennedy, denies using any racially motivated or offensive language toward Metcalf.

“Ryan Kennedy categorically denies using the “N-word,” the “C-word,” or any racial, misogynistic, or hate-based slur during the incident that occurred on December 21, 2025 at Ford Field during the Pittsburgh Steelers-Detroit Lions game,” the statement reads, in part.

The law firm says Kennedy has been "subjected to harassment, threats, and messages advocating violence" since the incident.

According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Metcalf was already aware of Kennedy from a previous incident.

“Metcalf reported the same fan to Seahawks security last season while playing for Seattle sources say,” said Pelissero.

Former WR Chad Johnson, of the Nightcap Show, said that he talked with Metcalf.

The Steelers’ star alleges the fan called him the “N-word” and called his mom the “C-word.”

The incident happened in the second quarter of Sunday’s game in Detroit.

The NFL is reportedly investigating.
