Starkey presses Pomp for details after his dinner with Nantz and Romo

We all know that Pompin’ Ain’t Easy but Big Time Bob inadvertently revealed why he’s a big deal during his weekly appearance on The Joe Starkey Show.

KDKA-TV legend Bob Pompeani let it slip that he had dinner with the NFL on CBS’ top broadcasters Jim Nantz and Tony Romo the night before the Steelers home opener.

Pompeani was trying to mention how Romo said that Steelers rookie center Zach Frazier will be a first-team All-Pro someday sooner than later.

But Starkey wanted to talk more about the dinner, something Pomp didn’t want to get into.

“This is fun to me, you went out to a big dinner and Nantz and Romo were there. What kind of company is Romo?” asked Starkey.

“They’re great guys, they really are,” said Pompeani. “Very good storytellers, enjoy coming to Pittsburgh, I can tell you that.”

Pomp says that this is the first time the duo were in Pittsburgh since 2021, due to the way the Steelers schedule has played out the past few seasons.

“They missed not being able to come here over the past several years, mostly because 4:25 games, the Steelers didn’t have a lot of them,” said Pompeani. “This was a one o’clock game, which is rare.”

Pomp adds that Nantz and Romo may be the broadcasters when the Steelers travel to Las Vegas later this season.

Pomp continued to say it wasn’t a big deal, but Starkey and producer Austin Bechtold wanted to know who sat next to who, what was ordered what is was like and more.

“It was all talk about Pittsburgh talk, I mean good stuff,” said Pompeani adding that Boswell was a big topic because of his six field goals in the opening game.

Pomp added it’s a “CBS thing” and they have had dinner in the past and only brought it up because he wanted to talk about Romo’s comments on Frazier.

Starkey and “City Limits” called it a humble brag from Pomp, who obviously wasn’t comfortable talking about the dinner.
