Wide receiver Diontae Johnson is getting another chance.
After he was released by the Baltimore Ravens on Friday, the Houston Texans have claimed him, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter and others.
The Texans next opponent? The Ravens on Christmas Day!
Johnson was excused from Baltimore team activities last week before he was released on Friday.
Baltimore picked Johnson up in a trade with Carolina on October 29, giving up a fifth-round pick. He caught one pass for six yards in 39 snaps with Baltimore.
With the Panthers he had 30 catches for 357 yards and three touchdowns in seven games.
Steelers traded Johnson to Carolina in the offseason for corner Donte Jackson, who leads the Steelers with five interceptions this year.
The numbers were fairly impressive with the Steelers, 391 receptions for 4,353 yards and 25 touchdowns. In 2021, he had 107 receptions for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns.
Johnson reportedly wanted another big-money contract, one the Steelers weren’t willing to give him.
He also had some reported issues in the locker room, including an altercation with Mitch Trubisky a couple seasons back.
