Four-time Super Bowl champion L.C. Greenwood is one step close to reaching something “long overdue.”
Being enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame announced on Thursday that Greenwood is on a list of 34 other players in the Seniors category being considered for Canton.
Greenwood and Jim Marshall are the only two defensive linemen on the list.
After consideration and voting, the list will be cut down to nine players.
Three of those names will be advance to the full Selection Committee as a finalist for election into the Class of 2026.
Taken in the 10th round of the 1969 Draft out of Arkansas AM&N, Greenwood played all 13 seasons in the NFL for the Steelers and was a key component of the Steel Curtain defense.
Greenwood has 78 sacks over 170 games with the Steelers.
He died in 2013 at the age of 67 in Pittsburgh.
