A Steelers Super Bowl XL Champion is selling his ring to help out his high school’s football program.
Defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen, a Hawaiian native, is auctioning off his championship ring through Heritage Auctions to help pay for improvements to Molokai High School’s football facilities.
The Ring features five Lombardi Trophies to represent each title the organization had won, up to that point.
It also features a Steelers logo in the middle, along with “Von Oelhoffen”, the NFL logo and his number 67 on one side. The other side features the final score of the game, Steelers 21 – Seahawks 10, the Super Bowl XL logo and the year, 2005.
The current minimum bid is $19,500 and the auction ends at 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 EST.
von Oelhoffen started in all four playoff games for the Steelers that year with one sack and five total tackles.
What von Oelhoffen may be most remembered for during that playoff run though is accidentally injuring Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer’s knee during the Wild Card game, pretty much ending any chance Cincinnati had at beating Pittsburgh.
