Ups and Dahns after Steelers Week One win against Jets

The Steelers opened up the season with a 34-32 win against the New York Jets.

And while it is a victory Monday in Pittsburgh, it was not a perfect game, by far.

Let’s take a look at the highs and lows from Week One.

Steelers win thanks to Aaron Rodgers.

The veteran QB, in his first game with the Steelers, is the main reason the Steelers are 1-0.

He threw for four touchdowns, completing 22 of 30 passes for 244 yards with no turnovers and a rating of 136.7.

Rodgers performance is something foreign to Steelers fans, who haven’t had a quarterback that can take a game over since 2018 Ben Roethlisberger.

“He was Great, with a capital G,” said Chris Mueller.

Offensive line struggles, mainly Broderick Jones.

The Steelers had hardly any run games to speak of and, unfortunately, Rogers’s left guard was a turnstile Sunday.

Mueller said Jones’ game against the Jets may have been one of the worst performances he’s ever seen by an offensive lineman in recent memory.

Jones’ performance prompted the PM Team host to speculate if Rodgers does get hurt, it will likely be because of Jones.

Boswell a “serial killer”

With the game on the line, the Steelers needed Chris Boswell to hit a 60-yard field goal.

To no one’s surprise, he nailed it and it would’ve been good from 65-yards or more.

Boswell was perfect going 2-of-2 on field goals and 4-of-4 on point-after attempts.

Cutting through the B.S., the defense sucked.

The much-hyped defense gave up 212 yard in the yard, 182 yards on the ground for a total of 394 yards. That’s good enough for sixth most after Sunday’s Week One.

The Jets also put up 32 total points.

The “historic” Steelers defense that was touted will need to be a lot better moving forward, especially up front.

The Jets are not the talented offense that the Steelers defense made them appear on Sunday.

Counting the Wild Card loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers have given up 481 rushing yards the past two games.
