Police have made several arrests in the rash of home burglaries throughout Southern California.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, the LAPD, and the Burbank Police Department announced on Wednesday that seven arrests were made in connection with several home break-ins.
During the press conference, L.A. County DA Nathan Hochman said this is a major sign to criminals that this behavior won't be tolerated.
“That collection of law enforcement working with the district attorney's office is bringing these seven defendants to justice and is, importantly, sending an important message out to the community that we are watching,” he said. “We are not just watching, we are acting to ensure that justice occurs when people's houses get broken into and that justice is swift.”
KNX News’ Craig Fiegener reported that Sheriff Robert Luna held up a brick-sized rectangle covered in what looked like lawn. Inside was a battery-operated surveillance camera designed to keep watch on a home ahead of a break-in. He also held up a metal box with numerous antennas, a device to jam a victim's Wi Fi during a break-in, and hidden cameras placed near residences.
“If you see anything that looks like this in your neighbor's home, in your home, report it to us immediately,” Luna said. “A Wi Fi jamming device. This was taken from some of the suspects who were arrested.”

Homeowners were also cautioned by law enforcement to be careful about what they post on social media because the suspects check there first.
“They get on social media because people are showing off, ‘Hey, I just, you know, $25,000 Rolex watch. I just bought a $250,000 car,’ and they target victims throughout Southern California,” Luna continued.
Authorities also said to avoid posting on social media while on vacation.
