74-year-old woman killed in South L.A. crash identified

A 74-year-old woman who was killed in a hit-and- run vehicle crash in South Los Angeles that also left another woman critically injured was identified by county authorities Friday.

The decedent was identified as Estela Melani Gomez, according  to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner's office.

The agency had no place of residence for Gomez.

Officers responded near the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue around 1:20 p.m. Thursday to reports of a fatal crash.

The suspect pulled out of a driveway on private property, hit the two women and was last seen driving eastbound on West 25th Street, KTLA reported, citing information from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics rushed the other victim, a woman in her 90s, to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
