Over the last few years Texas has seen a major increase in population with many of these new implants coming from California. Whether it’s for work or a lifestyle change, many former Californians are now calling Texas home, and based on the benefits of moving to the Lone Star state it appears that trend won’t be slowing down. A new study recently claimed some Californians can save over $1 million just by moving to Texas.

StorageCafe recently released a migration report, showing the benefits of moving from California to Texas. According to Dallas Culture Map, about 111,000 people moved to from California to Texas in 2021, while only 33,000 Texans made the opposite move. Some of the factors contributing to this are the lack of income tax, a lower cost of living, and the rise of remote work flexibility in Texas. However, one of the biggest reasons people are moving is difference between the median costs of homes in the two states.

In DFW, median home prices cost about $410,000 while in some parts of California; the average is just under $1.5 million. That million dollar difference has led many to pack up and move to Texas.
