An old interview clip between Pennsylvania Senate hopeful Dr. Mehmet Oz and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has resurfaced, in which Oz claimed that medical schools force prospective doctors to drink human urine.
While the segment was meant to discuss basic medical information, like bright yellow urine being a sign of excess B vitamins, Oz, the GOP’s nominee in Pennsylvania, spoke in the interview about his very specific thoughts on urine, including the taste of the liquid.
“Same goes for diabetics, tastes like wine ― cherry wine,” Oz said.
Kimmel asked how Oz knows what urine tastes like, to which the celebrity doctor responded by saying, “you gotta do it in med school.”
Several doctors took to social media, saying they had never experienced this in medical school, with some saying they were embarrassed he made the claim.
Nonetheless, Oz eventually asked Kimmel in the interview if he’s ever tried his own urine.
“No,” the late-night host answered after being asked.
“Are you kidding me?” Oz asked. “Where have you been!”
“You have, really?” Kimmel asked in disbelief.
“Of course,” Oz said.
The clip was shared on Twitter by the account PatriotTakes and showed a clip Kimmel showed on his show of Oz saying pee has a “nutty” taste to it.
Oz has appeared on Kimmel’s show numerous times over the years, so it is not clear what appearance the clip is of.
Oz’s opponent in the Pennsylvania race, Democratic candidate John Fetterman, has also had some fun, calling him the “G-O-Pee nominee.”
