ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KNX) – New video shows students inside a New Mexico school bus moments before a Mustang collided into it, causing the bus to flip on its side.
The collision occurred Feb. 23, 2022 near the Gibson Boulevard intersection in Albuquerque, KRQE reported.

Video shows students from George Sanchez Collaborative Community School onboard the bus looking out the window. They scream as a car is seen smashing into the side of the bus, causing students and bus seats to go up in the air.
The video then shows students leaving the bus as one man is heard saying, “There’s a girl that’s bleeding out there.”
Police said of the 23 students onboard, seven were hospitalized. Two students needed surgery for bone fractures, KOAT reported, citing a criminal complaint.
Mario Perez, 49, was identified as the driver of the Mustang who hit the bus. It was revealed Perez was not only speeding at the time of collision, but was also racing another car.
“Witnesses did confirm the two Ford Mustangs were racing and traveling at a high rate of speed,” Albuquerque police said. “One witness estimated they hit speeds of approximately 110 miles per hour. The posted speed limit for the area of the crash is 40 miles per hour. “
Perez was charged with two counts of great bodily harm.
