One teen was killed and two others were injured when a stolen car being driven by a 14-year-old girl was involved in a fiery crash Tuesday morning in Encino.
It happened at Ventura and Balboa boulevards around 12:15 a.m., according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer D. Orris.
Orris said officers pulled behind the car because the car’s headlights weren’t on. Officers tried to pull the car over, but the driver kept going, tried to turn left onto Ventura Boulevard, and hit a light pole before bursting into flames.
The 14-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger were pulled from the burning car and taken to the hospital. Another teen who sat in the backseat was pronounced dead on the scene, LAPD Captain Jeff Hollis told the outlet.
The deceased victim is believed to have been a 14-year-old girl, according to Fox11. The station also said the person who reported the vehicle stolen was related to one of the teens involved in the crash.
