A high school soccer coach was arrested in Orange County. He’s accused of sexually assaulting a minor.
KNX News’ Emily Valdez reported the alleged crimes happened in Westminster in February. Westminster police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Michael Avila, of Norwalk, who is a soccer coach at a high school in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. He’s facing multiple child sex abuse-related charges.
Westminster Police Commander Andrew Stowers said the victim isn’t a relative or a student, but they have concerns of more possible victims.
“The minor had alleged that there was sexual contact between the two,” Stowers said. “Our detective bureau are asking anyone who believes they may or may not be a victim of a crime involving Avila, or has any information related to our investigation, to contact either us or your local jurisdiction.”
