Homeless woman found shot to death inside SUV in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KNX) — A woman was found shot to death in an SUV Sunday in Long Beach, according to police.

Responding officers got the call at 7:22 a.m. for a gunshot victim in the 1300 block of West 16th Street and found one female adult victim suffering from a bullet wound to her upper body upon arrival, police said.

When officers arrived, the woman was seated inside the front area of an SUV, which was parked on the street, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was reportedly homeless, authorities told City News Service. The L.A. County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Guadalupe Ruiz.

Police did not say who owns the vehicle or what Ruiz was doing inside. The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
