In response to the wildfires that have destroyed large parts of Maui, Hormel Foods Corporation, the makers of SPAM, are sending resources to the island to aid in disaster-relief efforts.

Hormel Foods shared the news in a press release on Monday, noting that three truckloads, or 264,000 cans, of its iconic SPAM are on their way to Maui.

Aiding in the donation is Convoy of Hope, a nonprofit organization that aids those affected by natural disasters. The release shared that Convoy of Hope will be on the ground making sure its products reach those in need.

In total, the SPAM brand has donated cash and products with a retail value of more than $1,000,000 to directly help those impacted by the fires.

The brand also shared that it created “SPAM® Brand Loves Maui” shirts. The brand shared that 100% of the proceeds from the shirts will be donated to the Aloha United Way’s Maui Fire Relief Fund to aid those affected by the fires.

“We are so grateful for our partners like Convoy of Hope and local Hawaiiretailers who are helping us get more product to people in need as quickly as possible,” Jennesa Kinscher, the senior brand manager for the SPAM® brand, shared in a press release. “The people of Hawaii have a special place in both the history and heart of the SPAM® brand. Our donation efforts are just one way we are showing the community our love and support back.”
