In the latest jab at Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the famous Kennedy family is expected to throw its support behind President Joe Biden for his reelection bid.
The endorsement is expected to come on Thursday night while Biden speaks at an event in Philadelphia, where 15 members of the Kennedy family are expected to attend, including the younger sister of RFK Jr., Kerry Kennedy.
“President Biden has been a champion for all the rights and freedoms that my father and uncles stood for,” Kerry Kennedy will say, according to excerpts provided by the Biden campaign, The Hill reported.
The endorsement comes as RFK Jr. looks to pull off a longshot bid for the White House as an independent after failing to gain support among the Democrats.
“I can only imagine how Donald Trump’s outrageous lies and behavior would have horrified my father, Robert F. Kennedy, who proudly served as Attorney General of the United States, and honored his pledge to uphold the law and protect the country,” Kerry Kennedy is expected to say. “Daddy stood for equal justice, human rights, and freedom from want and fear. Just as President Biden does today.”
While backing RFK Jr.’s competitors is seen as a slap in the face, it isn’t unexpected.
Several members of the Kennedy family have expressed their disapproval of RFK Jr.’s campaign, with many looking to distance themselves from the independent candidate.
During a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the White House last month, President Biden hosted more than 30 members of the Kennedy family, excluding his political opponent, Reuters reported.
RFK Jr. continues to maintain that Biden will not be effective in a second term and that former President Donald Trump “failed” in his first term. He says his campaign is meant to show people they have a better choice than the worst of two evils.

No matter what happens, he is expected to impact what is already being seen as a close race, with the latest New York Times/Siena College poll showing Trump is leading Biden in polling at 46% to 45%, a smaller lead than what he saw just months ago when the gap was closer to 5%.
