TARZANA, Calif. (KNX) – A bump from a stranger led to a life-changing moment for a California woman.
LaQuedra Edwards said she was purchasing lottery tickets from a California Lottery Scratchers vending machine in a Vons back in November. She put $40 into the machine.

Next thing she knew, someone bumped into her.
“He just bumped into me, didn’t say a thing and just walked out the door,” Edwards recalled.
That bump caused her to push the wrong button and caused a $30 200X Scratchers ticket to come down.
Edwards said she was annoyed, having not intended to spend 75 percent of her money on the tickets. Still, she got in the car and began scratching the ticket.
It was then she learned she hit the jackpot, and became $10 million richer.
“I didn’t really believe it at first, but I got on the 405 freeway and kept looking down at (the ticket), and I almost crashed my car,” she said. “I pulled over, looked at it again and again, scanned it with my (California Lottery mobile) app, and I just kept thinking this can’t be right.”
Edwards said she intends to use the money to buy a house and establish a non-profit.
She’s not the only one getting money. Officials with the California Lottery said the Vons location where Edwards got her ticket will get a $50,000 bonus just for having the winning ticket.
