On Thursday, LA28 chair Casey Wasserman made his first appearance with the committee and the International Olympic Committee Coordination Commission since the controversy surrounding his racy emails with convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell.
KNX News’ Karen Adams reported that during the press briefing, Wasserman was asked if he ever thought about stepping down after his name came up in the Epstein files, and Mayor Bass and others called for him to resign, to which he responded, “no.”
He did, however, say he’s spoken with Mayor Bass.
“I talked to the mayor weekly, if not more frequently,” he said. “Our conversations are between us. They continue to be thoughtful and productive with a completely shared vision on delivering the greatest games for the city and our community. “
The briefing came following their meeting on preparations for the games. Wasserman said they're making sure locals are at the games.
“With the launch of our community ticketing program, with a $5 million donation from the Rams, we will make sure that more and more tickets are in the hands of those in and around the games and their venues who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend the games,” he said.
LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover also said that L.A. taxpayers will not be footing the bill for security and other costs associated with the games.
