The Los Angeles Unified School District said Tuesday it was investigating an alleged assault involving students at Hamilton High School.
District officials said the alleged incident, anonymously reported as a sexual assault, “potentially involved” several students in a boys’ restroom. Neither LAUSD nor Unified School police have confirmed any details.
Footage of the alleged assault showed a female student surrounded by a group of boys in the bathroom, CBS 2 reported.
Parents and students told local TV stations the video of the alleged assault had been shared on social media, including TikTok. KNX has not independently verified the video.
LAUSD claimed it responded quickly after allegations were reported.
“At [LAUSD], the well-being and safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance,” a spokesperson for the district said in a statement to KNX. “The school administration immediately and proactively began coordinating with the [LAPD] and Los Angeles Unified School Police to investigate the issue.”
The district said it was unable to comment further because of student privacy, according to the statement.
A crisis team, however, reportedly provided students an opportunity to speak with counselors about any concerns.
The LAPD is also investigating.
