The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday LG is recalling about 500,000 stoves because the front-mounted knobs on the recalled ranges can be activated by accidental contact by people or pets, posing a fire hazard.
The commission has received more than 80 reports of unintentional activation of the knobs and the stoves have been involved in more than two dozen fires that have caused nearly $350,000 in property damage.
There have been at least eight minor injuries caused by the defect, according to the CPSC.
The stoves were sold nationwide at Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, Lowe’s, and other appliance stores nationwide and online at LG.com. Depending upon the model, the ranges were sold from 2015 through January 2025 for between $1,400 and $2,650.
The stoves' model number is located on the ranges inside the oven door or storage drawer located on the bottom of the oven. The ranges were manufactured in Mexico and Korea.
The commission says the following model and serial numbers are included in this recall.
