LONG BEACH (CNS) - A man was shot while arguing with two people in a suspected gang-related confrontation in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.

The suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

The victim took himself to a hospital out of the city, police added.

Officers were dispatched at about 2:25 a.m. Saturday to the area of Second Street and Pacific Coast Highway regarding a report of gunshots.

They located a crime scene and during their investigation were advised by an out-of-city hospital that the victim self-transported himself there for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body.

"Gang detectives were notified, and evidence was collected. The investigation is ongoing," police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call the LBPD, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Tipsters may also use the website lacrimestoppers.org.
