The U.S. has won each of its past two games, 1-0, in overtime, including Tuesday's semifinal victory over Germany. Brazil was a 4-2 winner over Spain, the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup champion, in its semifinal Tuesday.

The Americans are fifth in the rankings compiled by FIFA, soccer's international governing body, four spots ahead of the Brazilians.

The U.S. is 32-3-5 against Brazil. The U.S. has won the last seven games between the teams, including a 1-0 victory in their most recent meeting, March 10 in the final of the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup in San Diego. Fourteen of the 16 players who saw action in that match for the U.S. are on its Olympic roster.

Trinity Rodman, who has scored three goals, including the lone goal in the 1-0 quarterfinal overtime victory over Japan last Saturday, is among three players with Southern California ties on the U.S roster, having played for the San Juan Capistrano-based So Cal Blues club team.

Fellow forward Lynn Williams played at Pepperdine from 2011-14. Defender Jenna Nighswonger played for Huntington Beach High School.

Rodman is the daughter of Basketball Hall of Fame member Dennis Rodman.

All but three of the 18 players on the U.S. team play in the National Women's Soccer League. The exceptions are Lindsey Horan, who plays for Olympique Lyon of the Premiére Ligue, the top division of French women's soccer, fellow midfielder Korbin Albert, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain of the Premiére Ligue, and defender Emily Fox, who plays for Arsenal FC of Barclays Women's Super League, England's top division.

Brazil's 18-player roster consists of eight players who play in Brazil, six who play in the NWSL and four in Spain.

The game is expected to be the last on the world stage for Marta, the Brazil forward who announced earlier this year that she would retire from international soccer at the end of 2024. She has played in five FIFA Women's World Cups, six Olympics and was a six-time winner of FIFA's World Player of the Year award.

The watch parties at Legends Sports Bar and Lopez & Lefty's are organized by the Long Beach and Orange County chapters of American Outlaws, a nationwide support group for the U.S. men's and women's national soccer teams.

The watch party at Hi Tops Los Feliz is organized by Angel City FC.
