Most seniors in LA County now have at least one vaccine shot.

Sixty percent are fully vaccinated.

Seniors used to have the highest hospitalizations rate but now account for a shrinking percentage of patients.

Overall, Covid-related hospitalizations have plummeted since the winter surge.

And while the county has eased many restrictions in recent weeks, case rates remain "relatively low and stable"

"We continue to be very impressed with everything everyone is doing to keep each other safe," says Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer.

She says it's too soon to say how the latest round of reopenings might affect the numbers.

"We're hopeful that we don't see a significant bump up because of the movement in the orange tier," she says.

Ferrer insists all three Covid vaccines "are very safe" and could virtually end infections, hospitalizations and deaths.

The county's mass vaccinations sites are taking people without appointments through at least Thursday.
