COSTA MESA, Calif. (KNX) — A manhunt is underway following an armed robbery at the South Coast Plaza Mall in Costa Mesa Monday night.

Police said a group of men walked across the patio of the Seasons 52 restaurant around 7:13 p.m., armed with at least one handgun as they told diners to get down on the floor, Costa Mesa Police spokesperson Roxi Fyad said.

Witnesses told police the robbers wore masks, black clothing, and hoodies to disguise themselves. Fyad said they made off with just one purse and fled the scene in a white four-door Buick heading southbound on Bristol Street.

“It was awful we had to be there for it, but I’m thankful no one was hurt,” one diner told the O.C. Register. “It’s still very traumatizing, a lot of staff there were very emotional.”

No injuries were reported and so far no arrests have been made.

“As we continue to investigate this incident, we ask that anyone with information about the suspects please contact Detective J. Korte at 714-754-5051, or Sgt. Detective J. Morales at 714-754-4933,” Fyad said.

At this time, police are not releasing any further information.
