Permit to rebuild Lineage cold storage warehouse in Boyle Heights has been filed

Newsom Declares State of Emergency For LA Warehouse Fire
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JUNE 23: Los Angeles firefighters monitor the Lineage Logistics warehouse fire on June 23, 2026 in Los Angeles, California. Firefighters continue to douse the Lineage Logistics warehouse fire six days after it began on June 17, causing health concerns in the Boyle Heights neighborhood and parts of Los Angeles as smoke from the fire blankets the area. Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Jaime Moore said Monday that he hopes to have the fire extinguished by Friday.

A permit to rebuild the fire-damaged Lineage cold storage warehouse has been filed.

The permit was filed on Monday, according to L.A. Material. The same day it was filed, Mayor Karen Bass posted a video on Instagram in which she said, "Lineage shouldn't even think about coming back and rebuilding this warehouse."

The “alter/repair” permit asks to “repair and rebuild fire-damaged portions of the building to original, pre-fire condition per the existing approved drawings on file.”

KNX News' Craig Fiegener spoke with residents, the majority of whom were against the rebuild.

"I definitely wouldn't want, it" one woman said. "I'm pretty sure a lot of people feel that way."

"I would seriously reconsider," one man said. "At least have a press conference and then get some information before you make that decision."

In a statement to L.A. Material, Mayor Bass said, "I can't believe they would even think about starting the rebuilding process while they haven't cleaned up the mess they created. That's why Lineage should be solely focused on."

Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, who represents Boyle Heights, also issued a statement, writing, "It is outrageous that Lineage is seeking permits to rebuild while the disaster it created has not even been cleaned up."
