Pilot killed in small plane crash in Sylmar

SYLMAR, Calif. (KNX) – A pilot was killed in a small plane crash Wednesday in the Sylmar area.

The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. in an embankment near the westbound 210 Freeway, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.


The aircraft, according to City News Service, struck a bank of trees before it crash.

Despite a thorough search into the aircraft, fire officials did not find any other victims other than the pilot.

The pilot’s name and gender has not been publicly revealed at this time.

Fire officials said a small fuel leak was contained, but that there was no fire.

The collision has caused two freeway lanes, including the 210 westbound, to close.

The National Transportation Safety Board is responding, fire officials said.
