Residents in a West Hollywood neighborhood are voicing concerns after a pack of coyotes has taken up residence inside an unfinished apartment building.
KNX News’ Pete Demetriou reported that construction on the multi-unit apartment building at Spaulding and Romaine Ave. has been stalled for almost four years.
Patty Fallon, whose lived in the area for six years, said that a pack of four to five coyotes has been hanging in and around the partially framed building.
“I do know that there's a lot of people with little dogs, and they usually have them on a leash,” he said. “But I have heard that people are worried about, you know, their cats and whatever getting scooped up.”
Paris, another resident, is among those who have had a close call with the coyotes.
“My dog is really small, and I wasn't paying attention, and the problem was that the coyote was right behind me and he was getting super close to me, and I was not paying attention, and he almost attacked my dog,” she said.
She and a number of neighbors are hoping someone at some level of government steps in to help.
“They just don't want to do anything about it, honestly, and it kind of sucks because like we live here, we live around here, and we literally are like in danger, most of us that have dogs,” she said.
Neither the city of West Hollywood nor County Animal Control have announced whether they're going to take action to trap and relocate the coyotes to a nearby wilderness area.
