Lockdown at 2 Santa Ana schools lifted after reports of bomb threat

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KNX) — Santa Ana High School was locked down Thursday following a bomb threat report made to the Santa Ana Police Department. The department said it also received word of a possible armed suspect in the area but said investigators found no evidence of either.

The threat was first reported around 1:30 p.m., at the school in the 500 block of W Walnut Street, according to the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD). School and police officials announced around 4:30 p.m. that the lockdown was lifted and any remaining students would be allowed to go home.

"Santa Ana Police Department has cleared the Santa Ana High School campus and the lockdown has been lifted," SAUSD said in a statement, adding that the elementary school next door had also been affected by a "lock out," per police request.

"All students at Santa Ana High and those remaining at Heninger Elementary are now being released. Parents can now pick up their children. Thank you for your patience."
