
A series of small earthquakes were reported in a remote desert area of Riverside County near Anza on Tuesday. No immediate reports of damage or injuries were made.
The first quake with a Richter scale magnitude of 3.7 occurred at 3:41 p.m. about five miles south of the community of Mountain Center and about 15 miles southeast of Hemet.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported that moments later a smaller quake of a 2.1 magnitude hit, followed by a 3.5-grade tremor just before 4 p.m.
Authorities reported to aftershocks, both of less than 3.0 in magnitude, shortly after 4 p.m.
