A Southwest Airlines passenger has been taken to a hospital for an evaluation after he reportedly opened the plane’s emergency exit and then climbed onto the plane’s wing on Sunday.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office shared that the incident went down at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

The plane was still at the skyway when the incident occurred, according to officials. It is not clear what caused the passenger to open the emergency exit.

“He was caught on the tarmac and transported to a local hospital for evaluation,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Officials did not note what injury the passenger suffered.

The passenger has not been charged with any crimes at this point, though the incident and investigation are being looked at by federal authorities, the sheriff’s office said.

Southwest Airlines said that the flight was eventually able to depart from New Orleans for Atlanta before continuing to its final destination of Baltimore.

“We commend our flight and ground crews for their swift action and apologize to our customers for their inconvenience,” the airline said.
