Student killed, others injured in Riverside County school bus crash

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (KNX) — One student lost their life and two others were injured Thursday as a school bus and vehicle collided in the 17500 block of Corkill Road in Desert Hot Springs, according to reports.

Cal Fire Riverside reported the crash around 5 p.m., saying that one person had died, another was in serious condition and a third person suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A Cal Fire spokesperson told KESQ, a local TV station, that the person killed was a student and the others who suffered injuries were also children.

Joan Boiko with the Palm Springs Unified School District told KESQ that the bus was from Julius Corsini Elementary School, about three miles away from where the crash happened

KNX reached out to Cal Fire Riverside, but was told the California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation. CHP in the area could not be reached at this time.
